The Mindful Goldfish™

Nevada Trauma & Somatic Therapy

helping adults heal in mind and body

I’m a licensed clinical social worker, alcohol and drug counselor, and trauma-informed yoga teacher offering trauma therapy and addictions counseling in Carson City, Reno, Dayton, Minden, Gardnerville, and throughout Nevada via telehealth.

I help adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected find steadiness, compassion, and a deeper sense of home in their bodies and lives. My approach blends mindfulness, EMDR, IFS, and somatic work to support healing from stress, overwhelm, anxiety and grief at a pace that feels safe.

Many people I work with appear “fine” on the outside while quietly carrying stress, trauma, grief, or emotional swings. I offer a grounded, human space to slow down, get curious, and reconnect with yourself — so healing becomes something real and lasting.

My Approaches

Trauma Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy that helps the brain and nervous system process traumatic or distressing experiences that may feel “stuck.” When overwhelming events aren’t fully processed, they can continue to shape how you feel, react, and relate to yourself and others. Using bilateral stimulation — such as eye movements or gentle tapping — EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories while you stay grounded in the present. This work often unfolds alongside somatic awareness and parts-based exploration, helping your system move toward greater steadiness, relief, and integration.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a compassionate approach to therapy that understands the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own role. Some parts may try to protect you, others may carry pain from earlier experiences, and some may show up as worry, criticism, or self-doubt. Rather than pushing these parts away, IFS invites curiosity and understanding. As you connect with your core Self — the calm, steady center within you — these parts can begin to soften, allowing more balance, clarity, and self-compassion to emerge.

Somatic Therapy

Trauma-Informed Yoga is a gentle, supportive approach to movement that helps people reconnect with their bodies after stress or trauma. This practice prioritizes safety, choice, and empowerment, offering invitations rather than expectations. Through mindful movement, breath, and awareness of body sensations, trauma-informed yoga supports nervous system regulation and a greater sense of grounding. Over time, many people begin to feel more present in their bodies and more connected to a sense of steadiness and inner safety.
